Building our first song, "Leaving"
In part one of the first backstage composition project I sit down at the acoustic piano and briefly describe the idea for the song, some of the theory behind the chord structuring, and play the tune in its most basic form.

In part two of Leaving, the piano concept is entered into the computer. This video will explore the audio workstation template used in the studio and show how to create the initial midi file of the basic piano track, and the tempo and time signature tracks.

In part three of Leaving, I start to arrange the tune by adding more instruments and parts. The melody line is played by a flute and a second flute is added for counterpoint. Also an acoustic bass track gets added.

In part four of Leaving, I start working on the "heavy" center of the song. Several instrument tracks are added, and a quick synthesized drum track sets the stage for the synth lead to come in part 5.

In part five of Leaving, I add the synth lead to the center section of the song and  do a comparison of a finished demo of a song section with the final recorded version done by Oblivion Sun.
